Spring – What’s In Season??

Early To Late Spring:

A bevy of wonderful, fresh, local delicacies are coming into season. Once tasted, never forgotten! June brings juicy, jewel red strawberries with cream; just thinking about them makes my mouth water.

Halibut comes into season in April. I love this fish, especially when marinated and barbecued. In May come the spot prawns. This year I want to try some new and interesting, (I hope) recipes. Haul out the barbecue; throw some spot prawns on;  in a couple of minutes, Heaven!

With all of this, how can you not get all fired up and want to head straight to the kitchen and start cooking?  Buon gusto!

  1. YUM! Had fresh strawberries & blueberries with creme fraiche last night. There’s a local magazine that comes out quarterly called “Edible Santa Barbara” – they are a franchise all over the states & you would love it & if they have it in Canada, you would be an excellent contributor – maybe you can be the pioneer? 😀

    • Guess what…we have a magazine here called “Edible Vancouver.” Published quarterly too, I think. The thing I love about it is that they feature what’s available locally here and talks about farms, wineries, etc. I’m a berry snob…patiently waiting until they come into season here and God help us if it’s a rainy June with hardly any sun…doesn’t make for the sweetest strawberries…luckily blueberries are later in the summer. Just thinking about them makes my mouth water and I love them with crème fraiche (which I make, it’s dead easy, check out it out in the recipe section of the blog and you’ll see what I mean). 🙂
